Meet the team
Heather (they/them) is a non-binary neurodivergent person and a Florida Licensed Midwife. Their focus is on cultivating trust while providing a nurturing, safe, and affirming environment that improves prenatal and birth outcomes for queer and socially marginalized folks.
Heather came to birth-work after attending their friend’s birth as a teenager. It was through this experience navigating the healthcare system with little information and support that sparked interest in advocacy. They became a full spectrum birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator while working towards their goal of becoming a midwife. Throughout their journey, they have found a huge lack of support for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and had a dream to be a part of building community and connection. They love being a part of the conception process and helping queer people build their families on their own timeline and terms.
They graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Anthropology in 2015 from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. They then went on to attend The Florida School of Traditional Midwifery in Gainesville, Florida graduating in 2018. They’ve since worked in a variety of out-of-hospital settings including busy birth centers and home birth practices in the Tampa Bay area.
In addition to midwifery work, they are also active in educating the future generation of doctors through teaching trauma-informed and person-centered reproductive exams at The University of South Florida.
When they aren’t midwifin’, you can most likely find them at the beach, reading, hammocking’, or simply resting with their six kitties.

Talena Jones-Student Midwife and Birth Assistant
Talena (she/her) is a second year student midwife who attends Florida Traditional School of Midwifery in Gainesville, FL. She has worked as a certified birth, postpartum and death doula since 2019 with NABD. She admires all things birth, with a special and dedicated interest in supporting the birthing person. Her faith and passion for serving is what led her to birth work. The disproportionate negative outcomes for women of color is what will keeps her in the birth space. She desires to be apart of creating change and improving outcomes. When not attending birth, she spends her time with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and grandog.
Sarah Parrott - Full Spectrum Doula and Birth Assistant
Sarah (she/they) is a queer reproductive advocate with a mission to dismantle systems of oppression that are deeply rooted in the culture of pregnancy.
Sarah has been supporting folks through a variety of pregnancy outcomes for nearly a decade and knows that everyone has the right to bodily autonomy. As a full-spectrum doula, she holds space for people to find their voice amid their decision-making and trusts them to take charge of their care.
Over the past few years, Sarah has been in nursing school while simultaneously working on a labor and delivery unit. She has experience working in abortion clinics, birth centers, hospitals, and home birth settings as both a doula and also as an employed member of their team. Because of this vast experience, they know the ins and outs of multiple systems. During their years as a doula, they were also working as a birth assistant to midwives across the state of Florida. Sarah comes from a background in herbalism and studied at The Florida School of Holistic Living. Through these studies, she fell in love with the art of placenta encapsulation and has been trained in safe placenta handling. She carries with her a good balance of knowledge between holistic and modern-day care practices.
These days Sarah also spends their time as a Gynecological Teaching Assistant, training future physicians how to effectively perform pelvic and breast/chest exams utilizing trauma-informed care practices as her guiding principle. When she is not fighting against oppressive systems, she’s spending time with her two kids in sunny Florida.
Bejay (she/her) is a labor, postpartum, and infant care doula. Her journey into doula work began with a deep passion for supporting black and brown birthing persons through their pregnancy and beyond. She firmly believe that every individual deserves compassionate and inclusive care during such a transformative time in their lives.
Her love for pregnancy and childbirth extends beyond just the process itself. She believes it’s truly about creating a safe and empowering environment where every birthing person feels heard, supported, and respected every step of the way. As a doula and birth assistant, she strives to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to clients, ensuring that they feel empowered to make informed decisions that align with their values and preferences.
